Social justice is at the heart of a $250,000 endowment made to Sonoma State University by a couple with hopes that the gift will spur others to donate "to nudge the University in the direction they would like to see it go." SSU Professor Emeritus Dr. Andréa Neves and her husband Bart Evans have been longtime supporters of programs in education, including the building of classrooms in Africa.
This endowment fund supports the H. Andréa Neves and Barton Evans Social Justice Lecture Series at Sonoma State University, a joint venture of the School of Social Sciences and the School of Education.
Each year the series invites a distinguished and inspiring speaker to address the topic of social justice in a public lecture for the campus and greater community.
The 2023 lecture with author and speaker Ijeoma Oluo will take place on Tuesday, April 4th at the GMC. Tickets available now.
