Overview of Field Experience
In the Single Subject Credential Program, our placement coordinator arrange field placements with our partner schools. Placements are determined with careful attention to the needs of all parties involved: schools, departments, and individual teachers, as well as the specific requests made by teacher candidates for location, type of school, specific subject area, and individual circumstances. Mentor Teachers supervise and model for Teacher Candidates in the field. For more information on Mentor Teacher Roles & Responsibilities, please review the Mentor Teacher Handbook.
Please note, teacher candidates MAY NOT arrange their own placements. Please do not contact a teacher or school directly BEFORE being placed. Doing so will jeopardize your continuation in the program. Our placement coordinator have worked, taught, and placed candidates in the North Bay for many years; please respect their expertise and ability to navigate the many moving parts of the placement process.
