Yajuan (Vivian) Xiang is an Associate Professor in the Department of Early Childhood Studies at Sonoma State University. Dr. Xiang aims to support children’s growth and learning through collaboration with family, school and community. Particularly, she focuses on evidence-based methods that promote early language and literacy learning through meaningful experiences. Also, she believes the very best way to learn to effectively working with children is by spending significant time with them in real-world contexts.  She is interested in investigating effective field-based practices in programs of early childhood studies.

She lived and worked in Xinjiang, Beijing, New York and Indiana prior to relocating to California. Her hobbies include cooking, crafting, traveling and spending time with families and friends.
