I began student teaching in 1991, and taught high school for ten years (focus on bilingual education and AP instruction).  I've taught at SSU since 1999, and have written and directed several federal/state/local grants for practicing teachers. In 2017 I helped write the CA social studies framework.  I also conduct qualitative and quantitative assessment of literacy assessments and development (supporting districts with CAASP assessments).  I consult in several districts around literacy development and program evaluation.
